TeXmacs *is* incompatible with guile-2. It DEPENDs (and RDEPENDs) on dev-scheme/guile:12[deprecated] What does guile-config --version say on your system?
(In reply to Andrey Grozin from comment #5) $ sudo chroot amd64-desktop-unstable_20160807-111219 ms-magpie / # guile-config --version guile-config - Guile version 2.0.12 ms-magpie / # exit exit
All versions of dev-scheme/guile in the main tree (1.8.8-r1, 1.8.8-r2, 2.0.12-r1) live *in the same slot* 12. In other words, it is impossible to have both guile-1.8 and guile-2.0 installed at the same time, if one uses only the main tree. [In the lisp overlay, guile-2.0.x lives in the slot 2, and can be installed in parallel with 1.8.] Therefore, the DEPEND and RDEPEND in all versions texmacs are wrong, in view of the current situation in the main tree. They should specify <dev-scheme/guile-2.0[deprecated]. I'll correct ebuilds except those ones which are stable on some arch. Stable ones will remain broken, because I cannot commit to stable.

From my point of view experimental is to use guile <2 because the code of old guile is terrible and not working at all :) But up to you just telling you my point of view :) Amy

Point is --enable-guile2=yes. I tried to use your patch. Emerge complained about missing qt and qt4 use flag in IUSE. I added qt ang qt4 to IUSE. Now emerge complained about TeXmacs is incompatible with Guile 2. I substituted -enable-guile2=yes by -enable-guile2, but I still get the same error.
Created attachment 443804 [details] an texmacs-1.99.5.ebuild which should work with guile-2, but does not do it.
There's a work-around. In the lisp overlay, guile-1.8 and guile-2 live in different slots, and can be installed together. The build system of TeXmacs has to be slightly patched, so that guile-1.8 is used (there is an ebuild of an outdated version of TeXmacs in the same overlay which does this; I'm sure it's easy to adjust the patch for the latest TeXmacs). Build systems of clients of guile-2 also should be slightly patched: to call guile2-config instead of guile-config, etc. Then everybody will be happy.

However guile-1.8 is obsolete and will be removed. There is no point to slot it now.

It implements its own modules system, which is incompatible with guile2. So, *each* of these 527 files does not work in guile2, and needs non-trivial porting. This work has started (--enable-guile2), but I doubt it will be completed soon. So, before removing guile-1.8, you will have to remove TeXmacs.

If upstream is not able to write properly in scheme they should not use it. And guile-1.8 will be removed when texmacs will be ported and I believe it will be soon. :) Plus it worked for me with guile2 already.
7 Month later. It still fails with Guile version 2.0. Any news?
