Description Jurek Bartuszek (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-30 03:18:07 UTC
Well, first of all I should say that this only happens on one of my three gentoo/KDE workstations, but it's _always_ reproducible there. I know there could be many WORKSFORME's but please, if anyone has or had such a problem or knows how to solve it, help. The problem is - as shown on the image - that Eterm determines fillscreen size incorrectly. After clicking the maximize icon, there is a space between the bottom border of eterm and the K taskbar.

I don't know if this happens in other desktop enviroments, cause I don't use them. The one I use is KDE 3.2.3.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run KDE
2. Run Eterm
3. Click the maximize icon

Actual Results:
There is some space left between the K taskbar and maximized eterm window.

Expected Results:
There should be no space between the K taskbar and maximized eterm window.

Eterm is not the window manager ... the window manager handles those kind of details

you saw you use KDE, so it's a KDE bug ;)
Comment 2 Gregorio Guidi (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-30 12:14:59 UTC
the window manager is not always able to maximize a window
(see for instance http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67577)
but since it happens on just one box it seems very strange...

have you tried moving away your ~/.kde3.2 and running a kde session with
just a default configuration?
Comment 3 Jurek Bartuszek (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-30 16:17:59 UTC
Well, the problem is this really occurs on one workstation! And yes, even with the default settings of KDE. :(

don't know what we can do for you - perhaps you can ask the folks at bugs.kde.org
