Hello Gentooers, Please bring net-mail/sympa into the official Gentoo repository. There are mentions of it and ebuilds for recent earlier versions in bug #86734 which may be found in the bgo-overlay. https://gpo.zugaina.org/Overlays/bgo-overlay https://gpo.zugaina.org/net-mail/sympa This bug represents one user expressing there is an Enterprise use case filled by Sympa with regard to a high volume, open source mailing list manager and Gentoo could potentially be a viable candidate here since the number of iterations from stage3 to "Sympa Server" are very few. In other words, this bug represents an easy way to introduce Gentoo to Enterprises who are curious and eager to adopt us into their cloud, cabinet or data center. The current version of Sympa is v6.2.16 released on June 17th, 2016. Original features ----------------- * scalable for big mailings lists ( > 1.000.000 list members) * list member provisioning using LDAP, SQL or other data sources * various authentication method (SSO, LDAP, X509) * S/MIME and DKIM * web archive with access control, message removal etc * virtual hosting for service providers. * automatic bounce management * easily customizable web interface * SOAP interface for integration with other applications http://www.sympa.org/ A detailed list of features may be reviewed at the following page on their website. http://www.sympa.org/overview/features Thank you in advance for considering to adopt, maintain, support and advance an ebuild to help Gentoo's Portage tree flourish. After looking a bit more at bug #86734, it would appear net-mail/sympa had its "Sunrise" starting point in 2005, received work again in 2007, 2008 and 2011; and then had been forgotten about until most recently when the v6.1.24 ebuild had been contributed. A quick glance at the most recent contribution revealed app-admin/webapp-config integration is also yet to have been completed. If there is a Dev interested in first dibbs on Sympa, by all means stake your claim. Otherwise, after some time has passed without further interest, kindly update this ticket and suggest we (users) should follow-up in #gentoo-proxy-maint and work to add Sympa into the official Gentoo repository. Thanks for your support!! Kind Regards, -Chicago

Don't feel the need to wait, you are more than welcome to take it directly.
Hi Chicago, you are already maintaining app-emulation/xe-guest-utilities so you know how things work in principle. Are you interested in maintaining this? If yes, just prepare your PR on github and link it here. We can discuss it on IRC with you and merge it.
This package actually appears to be much more current in the slonko overlay than in bgo-overlay. minbar:root:~:5 # eix sympa [I] acct-group/sympa [1] Available versions: 0 Installed versions: 0(10:46:22 AM 11/05/2020) Description: System group: sympa [I] acct-user/sympa [1] Available versions: 0 Installed versions: 0(10:46:35 AM 11/05/2020) Description: User for Sympa daemon [I] net-mail/sympa [1] Available versions: (~)6.2.58 {clamav -compat dkim fastcgi ldap mysql nls postgres soap sqlite ssl} Installed versions: 6.2.58(10:48:03 AM 11/05/2020)(dkim fastcgi mysql nls soap ssl -clamav -compat -ldap -postgres -sqlite) Homepage: https://www.sympa.org/ Description: A feature-rich open source mailing list software [1] "slonko" /var/db/repos/slonko
