Description Martin Mokrejš 2016-06-22 15:06:36 UTC
Hi,
I am not sure if this happens because of Gentoo:Prefix but there is glibc-2.12 on a redhat host.

Comment 1 James Le Cuirot gentoo-dev 2016-07-10 21:27:49 UTC
I have only supported recent stable as pinning back the various library versions would be tedious and may cause breakage for people with newer versions. Up till now, I have not made glibc an exception but I must admit that this would give significant gain with minimal effort. I am not going to downgrade my stable chroots as that would effectively mean starting from scratch but I will pin back to 2.21 until it is no longer in tree so this should improve things going forwards.

Having said that, the oldest in the tree now is 2.17 so if I were hypothetically doing this already, it still wouldn't cover 2.12. Supporting such ancient versions is not feasible for icedtea-bin and I must point you at the source icedtea package or use oracle-jdk-bin instead. 2.17 is the version used by RHEL 7 and that's been out for two years already.
