I tested a stupid version bump by simple copy of 2.3.8 to 2.3.9. Also copied the patch. It compiled fine and spyder starts. The spyder 2.3.5.2 warning message $ /usr/lib64/python3.4/site-packages/IPython/qt.py:13: ShimWarning: The `IPython.qt` package has been deprecated. You should import from qtconsole instead. "You should import from qtconsole instead.", ShimWarning) does not appear in 2.3.9 anymore. Not tested with 2.3.8. Although the simple copy worked here it might be a good idea to look at the .ebuild in more detail. BTW: The next version bump to 3 has a new SRC_URI. It is now on github too. should we close #565856 as wont fix, because 2.3.7 is outdated?
