Description Stefan Schweizer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-27 15:42:10 UTC
Hi,

You can find bash 3.0 here:

ftp://ftp.cwru.edu/pub/bash/bash-3.0.tar.gz

Some of the patches need to be ported to this version. Where can I find the contents of the -gentoo patch to port it?

btw, I found this on openpkg.org as src.rpm

Hm, this smells a bit fishy to me... Why isn't this on the GNU mirrors and why isn't it announced on GNU.org?
Comment 2 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2004-07-28 05:18:54 UTC
it may, but the README in bash-2.05b and bash-3.0 both end with this:

Chet Ramey
chet@po.cwru.edu

i thought bash was dead upstream and that's why we never sent any
patches upstream ...
Comment 3 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2004-07-28 05:26:48 UTC
oh, and the topic in #bash on irc.freenode.net says bash-3.0 released :)

bam it's settled, i want some 3.0 loving :)

Workin' on it
Comment 5 Aron Griffis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-28 06:54:48 UTC
It's in portage, all patches either integrated into master gentoo patch or dropped if they are no longer applicable

lewk, it's kinda useless to add yourself to a RESOLVED FIXED bug, don't you think?
Comment 7 Luke Macken (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-28 10:18:55 UTC
Eh, I was about to make an update for this issue, but then it got resolved and I forgot to take myself off. No big deal.
Comment 8 solar (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-28 13:50:31 UTC
Seems people are having problems fetching this from the mainsite and it's not on any of ours mirrors yet, so I've added to distfiles-local to be propagated.

aran: sometimes bugs get reopened when the new version has problems

*shrug*
