Is this still an issue with latest stable? There's been a large number of stabilisations recently (Qt, Frameworks, kdenlive, mlt, ...).

As far as I could test it it seems to be stable. I did a short video sequence and managed to get all the way to rendering without a segfault. What's though now broken is the video preview. It's like 0.5x width with 1x height. This squeezing makes it difficult to judge the final outcome without rendering. That bug is new.
Thanks for testing. Wrt your new problem there are many fixes in 16.08.1 again, I would recommend to give it a try as soon as it enters portage tree.
