I've recently requested comrel's assistance with user's actions on a bug. A while later, I learned that the user has been banned on Bugzilla (though I don't know for what specific reason). However, I haven't seen comrel notify any other participants of the discussion and in fact, other team members have replied to the bug even though the OP wasn't able to reply back.

While I can understand that the comrel processes require some secrecy, I think you should work on improving the transparency of enforced actions. If not for anything else, to avoid situations like developers requesting input from people who can't reply back.

One idea that seems relatively safe is to add something like '[temporarily banned]' or '[permanently banned]' to user's real name. We're already doing this for retired developers, and I've seen users adding similar markings when they no longer use Gentoo Bugzilla, and I found it really helpful as to determine whether to expect any input.

I think adding that to bugzilla name would be really nice indeed... but probably bugzilla people will know if it's feasible "technically" I mean :)

Of course it is. After all, we do it already for retired developers. I can attempt to do that if you want me to.

From my point of view I agree with the change... but I am only one member, I would then wait a few days for other replies and if nobody sees any issue, I would go ahead :)

Sounds like a good plan to me. I'm not 100% sure if it is necessary for the 48h timeouts (after all replies on a bug may take some time), but it probably doesnt hurt too much either.

Does anyone know how to get list of banned users out of Bugzilla? ;-)
Comment 6 Alex Xu (Hello71) 2016-06-17 14:45:11 UTC
Administration, Users, select "Restrict search to <Disabled> users.". requires "editusers" group or equivalent.

Yeah, I know. The problem with that is that the long is awfully long...

Bug 315033 should be used as a tracker for this similar to editbugs tracker. For now I'm closing this bug as obsolete and we'll work on transparency of issues.
