Description Florian Evers 2004-07-26 07:51:42 UTC
In Control Center, you can say KDE thar it has to use a SOCKS-Proxy
when accessing resources of the Internet.

This worked very good with KDE 3.2.3, but not anymore with
KDE 3.3.0 beta 2.

K-Menu ->
Control Center ->
Internet & Network ->
Proxy ->
Tab "SOCKS" ->
[x] Enable SOCKS support
(o) Dante
"Test" -> "Success: SOCKS was found and initialized."

Ok, like in KDE 3.2.3. But Konqueror doesn't start anymore:
florian@powerstation ~ $ konqueror
konqueror: ERROR: Error in BrowserExtension::actionSlotMap(), unknown action : searchProvider
florian@powerstation ~ $

Socks works flawlessly, its a KDE problem :-(

Greetings, Florian

Similar problems with amarok, when SOCKS is enabled:

florian@powerstation ~ $ amarok
[amaroK loader] connecting to /home/florian/.kde//socket-powerstation/amarok.loader_socket
[amaroK loader] amaroK not running. Trying to start it..
---freezes---

I think it should be ported to bugs.kde.org, but I'm not
very familiar with the "bugs in gentoo"-policies. I do have
an account at bugs.kde.org too, but simply did not know which
bugs.xx.org was the right place to report this behavior. :-)

Should I file a bugreport at bugs.kde.org?

Greetings, Florian

Same with problem with rc2? In that case just search a bit in bugs.kde.org and report it, if you think you won't create a dupe. I'm not sure, but the motif dependency, which is needed for nsplugins in <kde-3.3, is removed, maybe this a sideeffect/regression because of the code changes. I would it report it as a konqueror thing, since only the signal/slot stuff seems to be broken. If I'm wrong, you can safely blame me. I'm known for _not_really_(wanted)_bug_ reports... :)

yep, sounds like an issue to be filed a bugs.kde.org

Imported it to bugs.kde.org:
