test-tools still fails, the others pass now. This could also be due to me no longer having a PaX enabled kernel.

I'm seeing these failures with =media-gfx/gimp-2.10.18-r1 too.

@maintainer, could you investigate please?
Comment 12 Sergey Torokhov 2020-05-09 12:47:29 UTC
From the above logs I see that for failed tests

> Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0".

It seems that tests were ran without "x11-base/xorg-server[xvbf]" being built.

How do you try to run tests via

> FEATURES="test" emerge -1v gimp
or just via

> FEATURES="test" ebuild /usr/portage/media-gfx/gimp/gimp-2.10.18-r1 test
without preliminary build dependencies with

> FEATURES="test" emerge -1vo gimp
?

The built for "x11-base/xorg-server[xvbf]" should be provided for FEATURES="test" by inherit virtualx.eclass if I'm not mistaken. Could you check, please, if "x11-base/xorg-server" is compiled with USE="xvbf" before running gimp tests?

Sorry. or do you mean this error

> Exiv2::BasicError<char>

Do you have media-gfx/exiv2 in the system? Maybe I have this test passed because of having installed this package as dependency for other package.

> I'm seeing these failures with =media-gfx/gimp-2.10.18-r1 too.
>

The test error you encountered isn't the same as initially reported in comment1 for "test-save-and-export". The initial error partially related with [1] and [2]
but that wasn't the reason of failures. And this isn't the same as mentioned in comment9.

Because of error message
> terminate called after throwing an instance of 'Exiv2::BasicError<char>'
it's looks like related to "media-gfx/exiv2" package as BasicError is presented in its sourcecode rather in gimp one.

I tried to look for similar issues in gimp bug tracker and found only some bugs like:

"GIMP is not compatible with Exiv2 v0.27.0" on MacOS [3] that leads to
"exiv2 0.27+ on darwin fails with Exiv2::BasicError<char> error" on Exiv2 bug tracker [4]. But this issues was closed before exiv-0.27.2 release and their fixes already presence in package exiv2.

As it differs from initialy opened issue could you provide, please, you own full build(+test).log?
