Description P Nienaber 2004-07-25 23:05:44 UTC
This package shouldn't exist. It's in portage twice and the 'app-xemacs/eterm' version is annoying and causes a naming conflict with x11-terms/eterm.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge eterm
2. ew
3.

Actual Results:
No eterm merge. Instead, I find that emacs has been breeding, or something.

Expected Results:
Installed eterm without the annoying, unnecessary naming conflict.

app-xemacs/eterm has been removed and a note of the change added to updates/Q3-2004
Comment 2 N Addy 2004-10-02 20:00:23 UTC
Looks like the removal of app-xemacs/eterm created a new dep problem for gnus.

# emerge -pvuD world

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating world dependencies \
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "app-xemacs/eterm".

!!! Problem with ebuild app-xemacs/gnus-1.71
!!! Possibly a DEPEND/*DEPEND problem.

!!! Depgraph creation failed.

This was tried before. Eterm had to be put back in.

Comment 5 Heinrich Nirschl 2004-10-03 00:07:22 UTC
There is also a problem with xemacs now:

# emerge -puvD xemacs

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies \
emerge: there are no masked or unmasked ebuilds to satisfy "app-xemacs/eterm".

!!! Error calculating dependencies. Please correct.
Comment 6 P Nienaber 2004-10-03 15:49:50 UTC
Broken dependency configurations in another package are no reason for everyone to be sync'ing 2 copies of the exact same package.
