Hello, Elle Stone, the author of Nine Degrees Below (a Web site dedicated to colour management using Free and Open Source Software) and a fellow Gentoo fan, has produced and maintains a set of ICC profiles for a wide range of RGB (and grey) working spaces. This profile pack is somewhat unique in that all profiles it contains are free to use thanks to having been produced from publicly available documentation, all profiles are carefully checked for accuracy (it turns out quite a lot of ICC profiles available on the Internet or provided by equipment vendors aren't that accurate), and are guaranteed to be well-behaved (which is a must for using a profile for colour-managed image editing). In addition to the profiles themselves Elle also includes in the package her generator code. As this is only provided for reference my ebuild does not actually build it, thus avoiding the dependency on media-libs/lcms. Instead, the sources are installed in the package doc directory - and only if USE=tools is set. At present the ebuild is keyworded ~amd64 but it is in principle architecture-independent. By the way, I am interested in becoming the proxy maintainer of this package.
GitHub pull request now available.
