Boot SELinux LiveCD with kernel options "permissive doscsi", during USB hotplug service start, kernel oopses. - Asus P2B-DS motherboard with onboard Adaptec 79xx SCSI controller. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot LiveCD with a either permissive or seoff kernel and options "doscsi" 2. Kernel oops during USB hotplug service init 3. boot options of "nousb", "nohotplug" do not change this behavior, USB ad PCI hotplug proceeds regardless of specifying these options on boot Actual Results: Kernel oops Expected Results: Not oops, so I can install Gentoo SELinux ;) I will try to get a copy of the oops
Correct: usb hotplug service init segfaults under previously defined condition. When "permissive nousb" boot is attempted, system drops to shell on failure to mount required filesystems. Manual modprobe aix7xxx/aix7xxx module, mount /dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom, exit, and select boot device as /dev/scd0 allows boot to proceed. USB hotplug still segfaults, but ot is able to proceed past this. I will attempt install following this success and report any other glitches here.
Confirming that I had the exact same experience with a Adaptec AHA-2940U2W (AIC7xxx module) on an ABIT BP6 motherboard using dual celron processors. Apparently, the nousb and nohotplug are not working, as usb and hotpluging still happens with these selected. I got around this by using 'permissive doscsi nodetect' and then manually adding modules for hardware from there.
The new hardened livecd works fine for performing selinux installs. Please see if the problems you experienced before exist on this CD. Thanks.
I'm going to assume that this is fixed, since we haven't heard anything in a couple months. Feel free to REOPEN this if it is not the case, but the new Hardened LiveCD should have resolved these issues.
