I wanted(/needed) to change the keyboard type during the boot(?)installation process. I used the current "live" distribtion from the gentoo website. I am trying to install onto a single PC (ie. Not part of a network). During the installation there a pause or prompt that reqests a keyboard type. Here I am unable change the keyboard type as my wireless keyboard apparently is not supported Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot to install gentoo from a "live" DVD 2. During the "install" phase, when prompted, attempt a change. Actual Results: Would be able to change the keyboard type. Expected Results: The keyboard is dead until the GUI starts. This problem occurs on both Intel and AMD sysytems. On all occation, a logitech wireless mouse & keyboard combo was used
This will be fixed in latest livedvd coming soon. If you wish to test our beta go to releases.gentooligans.com. To fix this on minimal installcds we just need to built in those HID drivers since genkernel is not aware of them atm.
I went to releases.gentooligans.com and I downloaded the appropriate ISO files. I tried to burn them to a DVD. But unfortunately, all attempts failed. The error message said the format was incorrect. I will work from this end as time provides.
I downloaded and have been installing live dev 20160603. The live install process still does not access wireless USB. Where can I register other issues and bugs found? P.S. I worked on "bugtraq II" for SUN as a system admin and tester.

Frank please try the latest 20160604-r2 image at releases.gentooligans.com as I made a few changes which should allow you to select your keyboard layout with a wireless keyboard. I have tested this with my logitech wireless.
I downloaded the -r2 image. Ya might of told me the image is on an old server behind a very slow router. Took over an hour to get the first half of the file using my 88Mb/S modem. ;} Anyway, the keyboard still is dead at the times needed. The mouse and keyboard are fine on the flash screen. But they not available until the boot message "Waiting for uevents to process." I also observed that it takes a long time for the GUI to start. But I am guessing that all the dbug flag are set which is causing this issue. Regards, Frank

This is the hardware I used https://bpaste.net/show/0f06f6e2c28c as you can see it's both a wireless mouse/keyboard from logitech. By the way, you can fetch a new image faster by using zsync if you kept any of the old images. The command for that is: zsync -i oldimage.iso http://releases.gentooligans.com/newimage.iso.zsync You can emerge zsync as well. Good luck.

Thanks for the zsync info. Just to be on the same page, I am NOT using a virtual box, Also, again to be on the same page, how exactly did you create the hardware list?
Created attachment 437572 [details] USB Hardware info This the hardware info from: "lsusb -D /dev/bus/usb/006/002". My logitech devices.

What is the latest .ISO release you would like for me to try? I may take a few days to test. The abundance of DVDs has dried up. Due to management constraints, new DVDs will arrive in a few days. I can and will scrounge for a DVD for the requested release. Frank

Will do as so as supplies and time become available Frank
Please try latest release and report back.
Well. No luck. I get the same problems of no keyboard response during the install phase with "20160704" Maybe I need to be more simplistic. Think of yourself sitting behind a brand new PC, no network connections yet. No OS's on it. The system has a 250mb disk just waiting for some data. You have a Gentoo 'live' DVD and you know how to boot it. So you boot the DVD and select the install X86.. option (top of the list the GUI installation.). The initializing scripts do their thing. Until.. The prompt for what keyboard is to be used comes up. Which is useless. Since the keyboard is dead. The keyboard does come alive AFTER the X processes start. This means to that the wireless USB drivers are not being loaded properly/timely during the initialization.
Alright!! I just downloaded the 'current' 20160514 release of the "LIVE" DVD. I like the new install flash page. I see that the keyboard can be easily changed from the Advance menu. Kind of miss some of the old options though. But they were not up to date anyway. If the later builds of the "LIVE" DVD can continue with this method, I think the bug can be closed. Frank

OK.. That change corrected. But, I found (subject to) two versions of the install flash page. One is the new page, with the capability to change the keyboard. But the old page and script comes up. Please reopen or create a new bug. Frank
