get_fontdir_list function in /etc/init.d/xfs doesn't not get font dirs from /etc/X11/fs/config properly.
Default fs/config doesn't work with
catalogue = 
  "/usr/share/fonts,...
But 
catalogue="/usr/share/fonts/
will work.

changing the fs/config or fixing the init script could be the solution.

Please attach both broken and working configs so I can more clearly see the problem.

apparently the config file is fixed during the last few days, I don't see this
problem when I emerge xorg today.
