Since the current KDE 3.3_beta ebuilds still contain no dependency to libidn, I'd like to suggest to change that (explicitly recommended by KDE). German domains with "umlauts" won't be supported by konqueror without libidn and it's now stable on most architectures (only ~sparc). With the new upcoming KDE 3.3 it's IMHO a good time to add that dependency (I don't think a new use-flag does make sense). kdenetwork should autodetect libidn once it's installed (going to test that with beta2).
I disagree with the non-useflag option...please refer bug # 41995 It's not that I'm against anyone or their umlauts, and it is such a tiny lib but other desktop environments have tiny libs..one has about 30 of them. Down with bloat:)
I think we already have enough USE-flags as well :) IMHO idnlib should be nevertheless a normal dependency (or at least a useflag that gets used by default) since kdelibs won't be able to resolve the new domains without it. And if you forget to add that useflag, you'll first have to find out why konqueror doesn't resolve umlauts although it's supposed to support them. But I'd leave that decision to the KDE-maintainers. :)
