See referenced URL, a system like Nagios, but nicer to setup and use, with more reporting options. If I have time in the next week or two, I'll work on an ebuild and attach it here. If someone else already has ebuilds for the server or client components, I'd love to see 'em. ;)
Created attachment 37237 [details] Overlay ebuilds for zabbix-agent and zabbix's server Ive installed and tested these on x86 only. Comments and suggestions appreciated. If anyone wants to patch the init scripts Ive included that would be very helpful. Im fairly ignorant at writeing proper gentoo init scripts. Is there a proper way? Also I haven't written one for the zabbix agent...
Created attachment 39871 [details] Updated ebuild - fixes bug when suckerd uses fping. Uploaded updated zabbix ebuild, that fixes a bug (mentioned in the buglist on sf.net/projects/zabbix) with means simple check: icmppingsec does not work (returns 0.00 everytime).
Created attachment 43424 [details] new ebuild for zabbix-1.0 Fixed php use flag
I tried to install the latest ebuild but ran into a problem. I'll attach the entire build log but I've quoted the important bit below: make: *** No rule to make target `install-recursive', needed by `install'. Stop. chown: `zabbix': invalid user chown: `zabbix': invalid user install: cannot stat `/usr/local/portage/spops/zabbix/files/zabbix-trapperd': No such file or directory install: cannot stat `/usr/local/portage/spops/zabbix/files/zabbix-suckerd': No such file or directory ---cut--- sock zabbix # grep zabbix /etc/passwd zabbix:x:1006:65534:zabbix:/bin/false:/dev/null

Ignore comments 4 and 5 please. :) I didn't setup the overlay correctly.

I ended up going with the ebuilds from bug #90005/6/8 for no particular reason really. In any case, zabbix-agent, zabbix-server, and zabbix-frontend are now in portage. Go forth, test them, and send me bugs.
