Renaming the ebuild works fine, the new version just fixes some small bugs. There's a new "--enable-staticz" switch in configure, so if dump/restore would install into /sbin (currently in /usr/sbin), they could still run even in case /usr in unusable (libbz2.so.1.0 is the only lib that's in /usr/lib, all others are already in /lib). I think it would be a good idea to move dump/restore to /sbin, but that's up to ypu guys ;)
leaving it where it is(was) seems to be the better idea, just for backward compatibility. some scripts could break
