alsa-driver 0.9.0rc1 worked properly for me if I edited the file alsa-kernel/ppc/keywest.c and added in an '#include <asm/delay.h>' with the other include files. After making that change, and then the usual 'make; make install' ALSA worked properly for me. However, after upgrading to 0.9.0rc2, no sound comes out of either the headphones or the speakers. Period. Playing with mixer settings doesn't help. Programs seem to think that they're outputting sound, but nothing comes out of the speakers at all.
It has been masked for now until we can test further (I can't/don't use alsa currently).\
Taking bug, known issue with 0.9 on ppc according to OlafH
alsa 0.9.0_rc3 won't compile, it hangs compiling gus, I'll check things a bit better when I have time
Thanks Lapo, alsa has been a long standing battle on PPC in the first place. I have had reports that rc3 is not very PPC happy from other PPC distro makers :(
This won't be fixed, we will have to wait for upstream to get issues sorted out as its very complicated
