After you lose all your lives in geki2 it crashes with the following error: loading font error (-bitstream-charter-bold-*-normal-*-60-*-*-*-*-*-*-*) using xfontsel I can see that I have this font, but not in 60px form. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
I don't know what the problem is that you're experiencing but I do know that checking for the font via xfontsel isn't a good test. I can't see that particular font on my system either but geki2 works just fine. Please attach the ouput of emerge --info

This still an issue? What are you using for X? package name and version please.
It works now, I've been using xorg-x11 all the time it has been a problem.
