xmms-itouch plugin doesnt work with xmms and nvidia-kernel-6106 im guessing...i get this error when i try to open xmms with xmms-itouched emerged and enabled in the plugin menu... $ xmms libnvidia-tls.so.1: cannot handle TLS data Gdk-ERROR **: BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied) serial 7 error_code 10 request_code 33 minor_code 0 $ xmms still works with the libnvidia-tls part giving that message but xmms immediately closes after opening it the only way to use xmms again is to emerge -C xmms-itouch also i emerged xosd which works with xmms-itouch so that can possibly be a cause also Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge xmms-itouch 2. open xmms and configure and enable the plugin 3. watch it crash and burn Actual Results: Expected Results: bpgentoo root # emerge info Portage 2.0.50-r9 (default-x86-2004.0, gcc-3.3.4, glibc-2.3.4.20040619-r0, 2.6.7-gentoo-r11) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.7-gentoo-r11 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+ Gentoo Base System version 1.5.1 ccache version 2.3 [enabled] Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r4 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.5-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/home/pankey/portage-overlay" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow X alsa apache2 arts avi berkdb cdr directfb dvd encode esd fbcon gdbm gif gpm gtk gtk2 imlib java javascript jpeg kde libg++ libwww mad mikmod mmx mpeg mysql ncurses oggvorbis openal opengl oss pam pdflib perl php png python qt quicktime readline samba sdl spell ssl tcpd truetype x86 xml2 xmms xosd xv xvid zlib"
TLS Issue. Duplicate of a whole pile of bugs, fixed in cvs. Update to the latest nvidia-glx-1.0.6106-r3 and opengl-update-1.8.1 Run : opengl-update nvidia
$ emerge -pv nvidia-glx [ebuild R ] media-video/nvidia-glx-1.0.6106-r3 -multilib 7,159 kB $ emerge -pv opengl-update [ebuild R ] x11-base/opengl-update-1.8.1 [empty/missing/bad digest] i ALREADY have the latest of those two ebuilds....and nvidia has been opengl-updated
Can you attach a strace of xmms for me please. Also im a bit confused about when xmms is crashing, can you explain what you are trying to do when the crash occurs.
Created attachment 36382 [details] xmms's strace output here is the strace of xmms...my exact steps to make xmms crash where as follows: 1) run `strace -f xmms 2>&1 | tee strace-xmms.txt` from konsole 2) right click xmms -> options -> preferences 3) click on general plug-in field -> iTouch plugin -> Enable plugin and then it crashes and burns i used to have xmms load and crash half of a second after it loaded but now it loads without the plugin enabled. once enabled, it crashes
OK I merged xmms-itouch (I must say thank you cause my multimedia keyboard stuff now works better under linux than under windows), however i can not reproduce what you are seeing... Perhaps try compiling xmms / itouch without any custome use flags, just the defaults and see what happens... otherwise we may have to go chasing into the gdk :/
*prod* One last thought try completely removing nvidia-glx, and make sure you remove any /usr/lib/libnvidia-tls* /usr/lib/tls/libnvidia-tls* files... Then remerge nvidia-glx and opengl-update nvidia
sorry I haven't followed through with this bug but my dsl has been out for like 3 weeks now and i've not been able to do anything with my desktop yet. supposedly, the dsl will be working tomorrow so I will test and post again.
Brian : Bump...
im still without internet on my desktop gentoo box so its just sitting there in a screensaver for all of eternity, or until the stuipid dsl people decide to stop playing games and fix up my service. anyways, I will try to get to the pc tonight because I went away for a couple of days but now im back. and school starts tomorrow. but, i will get to it ASAP sorry about the delays Andrew =(
Bump. Can I have a update on results for the newest packages (6111r-3 and 6629)?
Brian, reopen this when you get some more results (or close it, if its gone away).
alrigh...sorry bout that...the gentoo install that this happened on is badly b0rk3d at the moment so i have no idea if this will happen again when i reinstall =/
