Gentoo is the only major distro, which does not use ntfs-3g as a name for a package containing ntfs-3g.
According the the PMS, a number following a hyphen is the start of the version. A package name cannot have -3g then a version after it.
Well, then PMS needs a change. `-[0-9]+[a-z]*` is a common trailing string in names, eg. `-3D` and `-2D`. deb and rpm uses underscore as a name/version delimiter, which is far less common. Official tree contains only a single package which would be affected - dev-ros/costmap_2d, but this can be easily renamed to dev-ros/costmap-2d without any loss of readability.
alternatively, we could just not. seems like pointless bikeshedding.
