Description Jonathan Hudson 2004-07-21 07:10:12 UTC
Gnome Weather has not provided forecasts for UK locations for some
time (like 18+ months); due to the UK Met Office having changed the
location of its forecasts page and the format of such relocated
pages. (note reports are still given).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install gnome-applets
2. In Gweather, select a UK location
3. Be amazed as it reports forecasts are not available.

Actual Results:
No forecasts

Expected Results:
Given a forecast

If anyone's interested in having this working in Gentoo, then I have a patch
that works (and has done for as long as "official" gweather has
been broken. Note that the Locations file is not complete as I'm not
that interested in more than a few locations.

This patch will be attached as soon as the bug is registered in Bugzilla.

Patch (v. Gnome applets/gweather 2.6.2) to enable UK forecasts

Attached patch fixes the problem (assuming it's a technical problem rather than
the UK Met Office threatening to sue to developers).

Has this patch been submitted upstream? That would be the proper location for it.
Comment 3 Jonathan Hudson 2004-07-23 04:35:01 UTC
It was submitted upstream at least twice when the UK Met Office changed format (at least 18 months ago). *Nothing happens*. I'll try again.

got links to those upstream bugs ?
Comment 5 Jonathan Hudson 2004-08-18 14:58:04 UTC
No links. I just mailed the patches to the maintainers advertised email address. They get ignored, so I don't bother any more.
Comment 6 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-18 15:23:10 UTC
you should file bugs, mailing patches will usually get ignored. If you get a lot of mail like most devs do, bugzilla is the only way to get some bug triaging done, please respect that.

I strongly suggest you just file a bug with your patches upstream.
Comment 7 Jonathan Hudson 2004-09-13 13:44:11 UTC
Finally got round to reporting this upstream (sorry we wife hijacked all my bandwidth while the BBC was streaming the Olympics and I then forgot). This is Gnome bugs 140677 & 152439. It has been fixed for Gnome 2.8 by one Alan Cox.

Please close here.
Comment 8 Brandon Hale (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-13 15:19:34 UTC
Fixed upstream, will be in next release.
Case closed.
