I've remerged networkmanager just in case it needed that for a plugin install, also restarted the nm service (systemd). Stable versions (latest as of now) of nm and nm-oc were used. nm-conn-editor was run as root and user with edit perms.

And, no error/message is shown in terminal when running connection editor or journalctl? :/
Comment 2 Matthew Thode ( prometheanfire ) archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2016-04-03 19:58:38 UTC
nothing, that seemed too out of the ordinary, no journalctl logs, here's from running nm-connection-editor.

Gtk-Message: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged.

** (nm-connection-editor:17416): WARNING **: Unsupported connection type 'generic'

Bleh, in my case it looks to be shown... at least from nm-connection-editor (run as my user), at the bottom of "Add" dialog :/
