The filesystem descriptions at the moment have several issues. For Btrfs, the description is a bit outdated and not specific enough. Reports of filesystem corruption are only common when exotic features (that includes RAID 5/6) are enabled, but not for simple use-cases of a regular partition on a single drive, with default mkfs and mount options. openSUSE uses Btrfs by default without issues, because it restricts the use of said exotic features. In addition, the section should link to the Btrfs wiki page on known problems and known-bad kernel versions: https://btrfs.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Gotchas For ext3, it says: "In short, ext3 is a very good and reliable filesystem." This is now misleading, as ext4 is the recommended one, whereas on first read the user might be lead to believe that ext3 is recommended. For JFS, currently no drawbacks are mentioned at all. For vfat, the description should be reorganised: the most important is that it is mandatory for EFI SYSTEM partitions; also very important is that it should not be used for any other Gentoo system directory. As it is right now, the section could easily be misinterpreted as suggesting to put / on vfat, if trying to dual-boot with Windows.
