All the useful commands of atitvout don't work on the ATI Rage Pro chipset embedded in the ASUS P2L-N motherboard, and probably some (many?) others. For reference, this motherboard has VGA, S-Video, and standard composite video out. The atitvout commands "vbe", "tvout", and "standard" function properly and return what looks like typical information; however, ALL other commands (except for "help") return a "VBE call failed" error message. While I am aware that atitvout is no longer maintained, it's critical that another maintainer is found as there is no alternative to this application.
Thought I'd mention: I tried atitvout with both the atyfb and vesafb drivers, with the same result both times. In neither case did I have any version of X at all even installed.
This isn't properly an xfree herd thing, so if you don't want it, Bryan, reassign to tv herd.
I haven't been able to find anything from google and I have no experience with atitvout. Hopefully the tv herd can be more useful than me.
Hi, how about this: http://videl.ics.hawaii.edu/pipermail/linuxpresario900/2004-May/002026.html
