Hi!
I'm the author of gsminfo.
This little CLI tool shows various information about 2G/3G GSM modems.
It will be useful for monitoring gsm signal strength, operator name and other parameters. Instead of tools such as ofono and modemmanager gsminfo does not require dbus and some daemon for works. Also this tool can be used for debugging not working internet connection with gsm modem. E.g: no sim card installed, bad signal, registration denied, etc.  

Program written in C and contains man page. 
I suggest net-misc/gsminfo location.
Ebuild file is attached.
