Can you file an issue upstream? I can't seem to find one
(In reply to Louis Sautier from comment #5) https://github.com/unittest-cpp/unittest-cpp/issues/104
See my response: https://github.com/unittest-cpp/unittest-cpp/issues/104#issuecomment-195644544 If somebody can verify that the test case mentioned is the cause, I can add a configuration item to the build that can be set to exclude this test specifically. If that isn't it, then I'll need somebody to either send me some pointers to get set up with a hardened gentoo test environment, or to track down the issue for me and pull request the necessary changes.
from upstream : Having looked at the issue, the only thing immediately jumping out at me would be in `TestTest.cpp`. The test `CrashingTestsAreReportedAsFailures` intentionally calls a function at address 0x0: ```cpp virtual void RunImpl() const { reinterpret_cast< void (*)() >(0)(); } ``` If you or somebody can verify for me that this is indeed the cause, then it will be easy enough to come up with a fix.
https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/dev-libs/unittest++?id=aa20461166bae303d9a497200183d0014713f897 The tests will no longer be run during the compile phase. This won't fix the test failure but will at least let hardened users install the package.
That amounts to a workaround I suppose
I am looking at adding one or both of these to the project's build options: 1: A CMake option that will skip running the tests at build time. 2: A CMake option that will disable the intentional crash tests. If one or both of these would be useful to you as a downstream user, please let me know.
(In reply to Patrick Johnmeyer from comment #11) > I am looking at adding one or both of these to the project's build options: > > 1: A CMake option that will skip running the tests at build time. > 2: A CMake option that will disable the intentional crash tests. > > If one or both of these would be useful to you as a downstream user, please > let me know. I think the former would be sufficient. It's also a good thing that we can disable tests without commenting the code.
See https://github.com/unittest-cpp/unittest-cpp/pull/115 Adding "-DUTPP_RUN_TESTS_AS_BUILD_STEP=OFF" to your CMake argument list will skip running the tests at build time once this is incorporated into a release. I would appreciate it if somebody here would comment on the Pull Request to verify it meets your needs, but based on prior conversation I believe it does.
It would be nice to have the ability to skip tests via cmake options but I think there is no reason to keep this bug open: it works as it is. I commented on the PR and I'll continue the discussion upstream.
