I had haft a genty system on the pc before with a functional system and the cp is a dual x86 cpu. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.genkernel all 2.genkernel all 3.genkernel all Actual Results: error build a kernel by compiler and your processor. Expected Results: That the kernel and initramfs + other kernel files not got build. Then just that genkernel not have got finished to make the kernel done. There is not quit a information here.
What exact error are you getting from the genkernel output, please attach it fully. Also provide "emerge --info genkernel" output
The problem is managed by I was thinking on the pc was a x86 cpu i686 where it is more a 64bit i686 cpu there is a i686 core 2 dual processor, so I took the 64bit minimal installation cdrom and install all from clean and got no problems. There is just some missing and not full complete guide in the handbook for the paths instruction. So the handbook have bugs for installation of 64bit amd64. Then is I now got some Networks problem where both the handbook and install crom changed for netcards, by install cdrom and the handbook have I eth0 but after a reboot is my netcards got renamed to enp2s0 and ep5s0 and this is some Linux programs having trouble wih by xinetd like use of eth0 where it is enp2s0. If the new install just would keep using the old style of netcard names of eth* instead of rename them to enp*

Also provide "emerge --info genkernel" output The problem got I managed by got in mind to remember that the cpu an motherboard not is a 32bit system but a 64bit amd64 i686 core 2 dual cpu system, there for it old system was made to run as a 32bit system. So I made a clean new 64bit system there make it Work fine to the finish and reboot. The handbook fo amd64 install and setup has just some errors or missing not complete instruction for some path lines where it just missing the /dev/sda* showings. I just got some problem with that my old first system and the xinetd is using eth* for netcards use and the new install renamed netcards to enp* names, Both the handbook and the install cdrom using eth0 and after the reboot is the netcard renamed to enp2s0 and this make xinetd not to start up by error on the eth0 co enp2s0, so the telnet port not is working.
