Description Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2016-03-04 16:45:05 UTC
I am simply tired of being insulted by people like this that are looks to pretend I am payed or something for having full time to fix and update all the bugs and packages they want. The happy thing is that he provides the 9999 ebuild AFTER the removal and after insulting me:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=563334

It's not the first user that reacts in this way and insults me via mail or similar... but I am completely tired of returning to my mails at the end of the week and encountering things like this

Reviewing https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Council/Code_of_conduct it looks obvious to me that he has covered at least the first three points listed in https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Council/Code_of_conduct#Unacceptable_behaviour

In summary, nobody blocks him for proxy maintaining this, all people can see I am constantly asking for help to proxy maint project for trying to get things maintained and solved... but , for that, people need to provide some work, not only blame, insult and do nothing more.

As someone who frequently has to listen to wltjr's rants, I am not about to condone his behaviour but I am still perplexed as to why you went ahead and removed the package without further explanation when two people clearly asked you not to with good reason. If it was an honest mistake then that's perfectly fine, it happens, but otherwise you should have expected some kind of negative reaction.

They weren't releasing any updates to the sources since 0.9.2 in 2009, only some kind of precompiled binaries from time to time:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/flamerobin/files/

Then, I noticed (long time ago as I stumbled with this when trying to migrate it to wxGTK3), that Fedora was needing to periodically get snapshots to get it still working ok. As this package has no maintainer at all, and I am not willing to de facto maintain all this packages, I masked it. Then I got the usual: oh no, lets keep it as-is. You can also see in the ton of maintainer-needed packages we need to handle that I am constantly trying to get packages proxy maintained if possible. The problem in this case is that I remember how did it ended the last time I tried to get a package proxy maintained by him... it was a total failure (I think it was with firebird packages). Then, when I saw his complaint it was like... well, nice but I am blocked, as I won't do the work of going to that upstream, ask him about what is really going with that package (that I am also aware of since I tried to clean some old wxGTK2.8 deps). If someone provides an ebuild or similar (like it happens in many many other cases), fine, if I only get his complaint, but no work at all, specially that I know I cannot suggest him to proxy maintain any package because it will be terrible...

If I would behave in his kind of negative reactions way each time I (and not only I) have needed to suffer his rants on multiple bugs each time something is not done as he wants, I would have probably being banned already :|
