Description Neil Moore 2004-07-19 09:10:46 UTC
An ebuild for Gramps 1.0.4.

Identical to the one for 1.0.1, so just a version bump. Works fine for me, but this is my first submitted ebuild so please tell me if I've done something wrong.

Thanks

I noticed two things with the ebuild:
- Typo in the runtime-dependency. It's "dev-python/imaging", not "dev-python/Imaging".
- You need to preserve the header. You missed "# $Header: /var/cvsroot/gentoo-x86/app-misc/gramps/gramps-1.0.1.ebuild,v 1.6 2004/07/19 22:13:09 kloeri Exp $"

gramps-1.0.5.ebuild

Version bump.
Comment 5 Darren Davison 2004-09-12 22:26:41 UTC
1.0.7 is now available. Can anyone clarify what may be preventing this ebuild getting added to the tree? Thanks.
Comment 6 Paolo 2004-09-25 02:18:39 UTC
You only have to write down the ebuild I suppose :)
Comment 7 Darren Davison 2004-09-25 03:56:20 UTC
well as you can see from reading the rest of the submissions, several people already have submitted ebuilds but none of them were ever added to CVS.
Comment 8 Michael Crider 2004-09-26 11:05:36 UTC
I would really like to see a version bump for app-misc/gramps. Version 1.0.7 is available now from gramps.sourceforge.net. I copied the existing 1.0.1 ebuild over and verified that the package works and installs properly under x86. Based on http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/ebuild-mistakes.xml, there should be no need for anyone to submit new ebuilds, and diff did not show any intentional differences between the existing ebuild and those attached on this bug.
Comment 9 Darren Davison 2004-11-09 16:58:46 UTC
version 1.0.8 is now out too. Clearly no-one is sponsoring or maintaining the ebuild for gramps and despite patches and updated ebuilds attached here, we don't see it added to the main portage tree. I'm sure the gnome@gentoo people have got higher priorities right now, so what's best to do here? Should everyone just use a portdir overlay or something or is there anything I can do to help officially maintain this ebuild for gentoo? It seems to be a pretty trivial one so I'm sure I could manage it but how do they get officially accepted into the tree?

It would be much appreciated if someone in the know could give a quick response to this one.

Regards,

thats true, we don't have enough hands to look at this package atm. but we'll eventually get to it.

one way to speed it up is to find another gentoo dev who is willing to use it and take over maintaining it, since it isn't really core gnome apps, we don't give it as much a priority as we would like.

I'll take this once I can

Alastair, Joe - thanks for taking the time to respond and offer to sponsor this ebuild. If it helps, I added a gramps-1.0.8.ebuild to my local PORTDIR_OVERLAY last night and emerged it successfully. The app compiled and is running fine, although there were some warnings about illegal inheritance when un-emerging 1.0.1 which didn't prevent it unmerging successfully. I *think* the ebuild is unmodified from the 1.0.5 version attached to this bug other than the version bump - let me know if you want me to attach it or send it on somewhwere?

Thanks again!

Got tired of waiting on this one... Commited an ebuild for 1.0.8 as a courtesy. I'm not saying I'm taking this one over. :-)
