*** Bug 575800 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
I cannot reproduce this, in my case I have dev-libs/libusb-1.0.19-r1
In my system is installed only libusb-1.0.19-r1 too but the problem is olways present. I have noticed a strange log output in the line that cause the error: ... .libs/usb1.soldl ... ^^^^^ I don't know if is correct, or if it is nothing, but it seems that a blank and a minus ("-") was missed. I think that the correct line must be ... .libs/usb1.so -ldl ...
Please attach full build.log and config.log
Created attachment 427528 [details] libgphoto2-2.5.9 build log file Here in attachment there is the build.log file actually obtained. Sorry where can I find the config.log??
Found it in duplicate report. This is really strange as you are building a multilib libgphoto and in most case, problems occur with the 32 bit build. From the logs we can see the 32 bit build of the same lib succeeds: /bin/sh ./libtool --tag=CC --mode=link x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -m32 -march=corei7 -O2 -pipe -Wall -Wmissing-declarations -Wmissing-prototypes -module -no-undefined -avoid-version -export-dynamic -export-symbols /var/tmp/portage/media-libs/libgphoto2-2.5.9/work/libgphoto2-2.5.9/libgphoto2_port/iolib.sym -rpath '/usr/lib32/libgphoto2_port/0.12.0' -Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -o usb1.la libusb1/usb1_la-libusb1.lo ./libgphoto2_port/libgphoto2_port.la -L/usr/lib32 -lusb-1.0 -lpthread libtool: link: echo "{ global:" > .libs/usb1.ver libtool: link: cat /var/tmp/portage/media-libs/libgphoto2-2.5.9/work/libgphoto2-2.5.9/libgphoto2_port/iolib.sym | sed -e "s/\(.*\)/\1;/" >> .libs/usb1.ver libtool: link: echo "local: *; };" >> .libs/usb1.ver libtool: link: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -m32 -shared -fPIC -DPIC libusb1/.libs/usb1_la-libusb1.o -Wl,-rpath -Wl,/var/tmp/portage/media-libs/libgphoto2-2.5.9/work/libgphoto2-2.5.9-abi_x86_32.x86/libgphoto2_port/libgphoto2_port/.libs ./libgphoto2_port/.libs/libgphoto2_port.so -L/usr/lib32 /usr/lib32/libltdl.so -ldl -lusb-1.0 -lpthread -m32 -march=corei7 -O2 -Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -Wl,-soname -Wl,usb1.so -Wl,-version-script -Wl,.libs/usb1.ver -o .libs/usb1.so libtool: link: ( cd ".libs" && rm -f "usb1.la" && ln -s "../usb1.la" "usb1.la" ) while for amd64 ABI: /bin/sh ./libtool --tag=CC --mode=link x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -march=corei7 -O2 -pipe -Wall -Wmissing-declarations -Wmissing-prototypes -module -no-undefined -avoid-version -export-dynamic -export-symbols /var/tmp/portage/media-libs/libgphoto2-2.5.9/work/libgphoto2-2.5.9/libgphoto2_port/iolib.sym -rpath '/usr/lib64/libgphoto2_port/0.12.0' -Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -o usb1.la libusb1/usb1_la-libusb1.lo ./libgphoto2_port/libgphoto2_port.la -lusb-1.0 -lpthread libtool: link: rm -f .libs/usb1.nm .libs/usb1.nmS .libs/usb1.nmT libtool: link: rm -f ".libs/usb1.nmI" libtool: link: (cd .libs && x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -march=corei7 -O2 -pipe -Wall -Wmissing-declarations -Wmissing-prototypes -c -fno-builtin -fPIC -DPIC "usb1S.c") libtool: link: rm -f ".libs/usb1S.c" ".libs/usb1.nm" ".libs/usb1.nmS" ".libs/usb1.nmT" ".libs/usb1.nmI" libtool: link: echo "{ global:" > .libs/usb1.ver libtool: link: cat /var/tmp/portage/media-libs/libgphoto2-2.5.9/work/libgphoto2-2.5.9/libgphoto2_port/iolib.sym | sed -e "s/\(.*\)/\1;/" >> .libs/usb1.ver libtool: link: echo "local: *; };" >> .libs/usb1.ver libtool: link: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -shared -fPIC -DPIC libusb1/.libs/usb1_la-libusb1.o .libs/usb1S.o -Wl,-rpath -Wl,/var/tmp/portage/media-libs/libgphoto2-2.5.9/work/libgphoto2-2.5.9-abi_x86_64.amd64/libgphoto2_port/libgphoto2_port/.libs -Wl,-rpath -Wl,/usr/lib64/.libs -Wl,-rpath -Wl,/usr/local/lib ./libgphoto2_port/.libs/libgphoto2_port.so -L/usr/lib64 /usr/lib64/libltdl.so -ldl /usr/lib64/.libs/libusb-1.0.so -lrt -lpthread -march=corei7 -O2 -Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -pthread -Wl,-soname -Wl,usb1.so -Wl,-version-script -Wl,.libs/usb1.ver -o .libs/usb1.so x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc: error: /usr/lib64/.libs/libusb-1.0.so : No such file or directory x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc: error: unrecognized command line option '-pthread ' Makefile:799: recipe for target 'usb1.la' failed make[4]: *** [usb1.la] Error 1 From this excerpt, a couple of questions arise. * why is /usr/lib64/.libs/libusb-1.0.so the location of libusb-1 on your system ? * why is -Wl,/usr/local/lib appearing in the link command Something tells me you have files in your system that were not installed by portage and cause this problem. Created attachment 427530 [details] config.log Nothing seem to be out of the ordinary in attachment the required file
Could you check if /usr/lib64/.libs actually exists and what is in there ? Same for /usr/local/lib The config.log indeed does not say much.
The directory /usr/lib64/.libs does not exist In /usr/local/lib there is some library used by my microchip development system # cd /usr/local/lib # ls # libjlinkarm.so.4 libjlinkpic32.so libjlinkpic32.so.4.96.7 libjlinkpic32.so.5.10.7 libjlinkpic32.so.5.2.8 libmchpusb-1.0.so libQtZint.so
I have noticed that the error reported mentioned the command parameter -pthread does not exists. Is it possible that the error was that the correct parameter is -lpthread?
I have masked the libgphoto2-2.5.9 package, and the system was updated correctly. libgphoto2-2.5.8 is installed and running ok.
please retry with 2.5.10
