If you visit the Bush re-election site at http://georgebush.com, Firefox always crashes before the page renders completely. When starting Firefox from the console, I get this message on the crash: /usr/bin/firefox: line 389: 10535 Segmentation fault $mozbin "$@" I don't know how to gain more information on the seg fault, backtrace or whatever, but if someone could tell me how, I'd gladly do it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start up Firefox 2. In address bar, enter http://georgebush.com 3. Watch page render slightly, then Firefox crashes Actual Results: Firefox crashes. Expected Results: Rendered the page correctly. Could be a feature, not a bug. Maybe the open source community is helping the democrats? SCNR, spiralvoice
It works for me here, btw. I'll try to follow up with debugging suggestions
you could either make sure to get a core and gdb it or use valgrind to see where it crashed. this might help in tracking down the problem
tried on 0.9.3 yet?
I've tried it in 0.9.3, and the crash still occurs. I'll try to get a core soon and gdb it.
Another webpage that seems to consistantly crash firefox is www.simaskra.is (which is the Icelandic phone directory. Does anyones else's firefox crash there ?
Same thing happens with www.betfair.com. This is my error message: The program 'Gecko' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'. (Details: serial 353 error_code 8 request_code 145 minor_code 3) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
I think this was an xorg-x11 problem that was fixed. Please re-open if the problem persists with xorg-x11-6.8.0-r1 and mozilla-firefox-1.0-r1
