Currently it seems Gentoo Prefix Linux amd64 has Python 3.4 and 3.5 targetted. vim wants only one python selected. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Ensure make.conf is clean of PYTHON_* config 2. emerge -pv vim Expected Results: vim should just merge with a simple profile setup. I think this could be caused by bug #574822
Nope. Problem is that in profiles/prefix/make.defaults we *add* python3_5 to PYTHON_TARGETS, so we have both python3_4 and python3_5 there (in addition to python2_7), while app-editors/vim allows for just one single python2 and one single python3 target. But I'm unsure what best to do here: Probably p.use.mask python_targets_python3_4 for vim?
I think that python3.4 needed to be set in the time we didn't have python3.5 yet. Since we do have 3.5 now, perhaps we can just rid ourselves of the override instead?
base/make.defaults still has PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7 python3_4" Do we want this for prefix/make.defaults:? -PYTHON_TARGETS="${PYTHON_TARGETS} python3_5" +PYTHON_TARGETS="-python3_4 python3_5"
I think that actually makes sense

for the record, I think this solves it in a better way: https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/?id=308e0b5207 (the PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET bit is also important)
