https://archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-dev/message/2d09b34719114840a38300df89923547 If even I'm not supposed to be personally offended by this, it is a clear admittance that they are intentionally ignoring bugs that I've opened to track fulfilling the Council's decisions and QA processes. As a result, users are confused and work is stalled.
Hi. I have made it clear to you on irc (this was some time ago) that your comments often read like personal attacks. This is a shame because even when I've agreed with your underlying arguments, your attitude has removed any motivation for me to work on the changes you'd like to see.
I'd like to extend this to generic games team behavior. Additional points to consider: * bug 574082 comment 6, * mr_bones_ reverting dosbox games.eclass removal without even bothering to reply on the bug or inform anyone (the bug was FIXED as left by the committer), * new ebuilds are still being committed with games.eclass. It looks like games team still behaves as if they were an isolated entity that does not need to cooperate with others, or respect any Gentoo-wide standards. Other developers were discouraged to the point where nobody wants to join the games project, and rather maintain their games separately. Judging by the last half of a year in gentoo-commits, almost all game commits were done by mr_bones_. vapier (who is still the lead though he doesn't seem to take any responsibility for the team's actions) did 3 game commits -- one glibc compat patch and 2 Manifest regens. tupone did a few gcc-5 fixes in Feb and Apr. tristan did not do any commit over that period. Therefore, I would like to request a stronger comrel action in order to restore health to games in Gentoo. Unless the games team (mr_bones_ in particular) agrees to actively work with others in order to fix the reported state and gain new game developers, I would like to request one of the following actions: 1. Removing vapier from games team lead position and removing at least mr_bones_ from the games team altogether, giving him a half-year ban on joining it back, and requesting developers to join games team and elect a new lead. 2. Disbanding the games team and moving all their packages to maintainer-needed. However, I find that an unnecessary noise. 3. Removing push access from mr_bones_ and possibly retiring him in order to clear the atmosphere, and make new developers willing to form the team again. While this action is harsh, it has proven to work well for proxy-maint.
Given the council determinations with regards to various issues of the games team, do you still believe this issue merits comrel action? If not I will close it in 1 week (or earlier if response confirms so).
Soap and I have already formed the beginnings of a new team. Soap has been very busy closing bugs. I'm focusing on new stuff but most of it won't happen till I've cleared the Java decks a bit. If the wiki is now the official mechanism for determining project membership then I don't think mr_bones_ has officially been a member of the team for a while. He doesn't appear to have a wiki account. He also stated on IRC last week that he is "just about out the door". He is still on the mail alias. vapier is still just as absent. I possibly saw him make one games-related fix recently but I'm not even sure of that.
Do you plan to have a new lead election date in the near future? After all the changes in the team *maybe* it would be desirable... :/ But take this simply as my personal suggestion... not any "mandate" or so :)
