I have been using 2.0.2 since it is in portage without problems. I copied the 2.0.2-ebuild to gimp-2.0.3.ebuild without modifications and that also works as expected!
In the meantime 2.0.4 was released: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/#mirrors This is a bug-fix release in the stable 2.0 series. A number of build issues and bugs have been fixed since GIMP 2.0.3. Here's a detailed list of improvements: - several build fixes (#147799, #148813, #147013) - fixed bug in Polarize plug-in (#147799) - fixed out-of-bounds access in Ink tool code (#144856) - improved antialiasing of elliptical selections (#147836) - fixed typo in gradient editor (#148300) - really remove all associated items from the ID hash table when an image is being closed (#148614) - work around integer overflows when transforming large drawables (#128594) - fixed wrong EXIF handling in JPEG plug-in, a bug that has been introduced in 2.0.3 (#148632) - fixed bug in Script-Fu extension (bug #148729) - fixed crash in container grid views (bug #148955) - handle changes to URI handling in newer glib releases (bug #148140)
gnome herd: Gentoo is supposed to be bleeding edge. I'm missing Gimp 2.1.x ebuilds... :)
very funny .. if there was infinite time, there would be infinite code.
Ebuild from 2.0.2 works for 2.0.4 on ~x86.
liguidx: didn't say you should hack on gimp .. only the ebuild :p Sorry. :) I'll sit down and wait.
carlo: you might wait a while as gentoo usually only adds stable branches of software to portage (though if *you* hack on gimp 2.1.x then you could probably get it hardmasked --- at least thats how gimp 2pre* was handled)
from #gimp 13:28 <@neo> there are just a few minor fixes in the tree since the 2.0.4 release was done 13:28 <@neo> so at the moment I don't see a reason for pushing 2.0.5 13:28 <@neo> vjacob: you could tell us why you want a 2.0.5 release 13:29 < vjacob> neo: i don't necessarily. i want to know if it makes more sense to wait for 2.0.5 for an ebuild update 13:29 < vjacob> neo: so far i've suggested 2.0.3, someone then suggested 2.0.4, might as well wait if 2.0.5 came out in a week 13:29 <@neo> as long as there doesn't turn up an urgent problem I don't expect 2.0.5 before september 13:30 <@neo> and you should definitely suggest 2.0.4
Close this bug. 2.0.4 is in portage
2.0.3 and 2.0.4 are in portage.
