When emerging the only available version of skoosh in Portage (2.0.8) the emerge failed repeatedly with a very general error in GTK indicating that a string or widget (sorry, didn't save the error) was not suitable. I went to the homepage as linked on the online database, and discovered that there's a new version (2.5.0) since March that depends on GNOME 2.5 (2.6, thus), which is the version of GNOME that I am using. I copied the 2.0.8 ebuild to my PORTAGE_OVERLAY directory and changed the version to 2.5.0, built the digest and emerged it. Worked fine, no errors, and the game runs. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Emerge games-puzzles/skoosh-2.0.8 against an installed GNOME 2.6. The compile will fail. 2. Copy and rename the ebuild to skoosh-2.5.0 (and edit the header). 3. Build a digest for the renamed ebuild 4. Emerge the version-bumped ebuild. Actual Results: The program emerged correctly and works properly. Expected Results: I assume that version 2.0.8 is compiled against GNOME 2.4; it would be nice if the 2.0.8 ebuild detected your GNOME version and refused to attempt install against GNOME 2.6. In addition, an ebuild needs to be available for skoosh version 2.5.0.
Created attachment 35918 [details] skoosh-2.5.0.ebuild Sorry, forgot to add the new ebuild. For games-puzzle, just like the other.
Version bumped in CVS. Thanks for the ebuild and bug report.
Thank you for your polite and fast response, not to mention the credit in the changelog. It means a lot that user submissions are noticeably appreciated. :-)
