There are no split packages since 15.3 anymore.

Should we go back to the single package schema? I don't see any other choice.

How should we handle the transition period?

Is anyone working on this?

Seems I am having some problems with the new buildbot-0.9. They might be solved with the 16.2 release. 16.3 was reported to be buggy.

If not I'll look at bumping these in tomorrow
Comment 3 Brian Dolbec (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2016-07-29 17:59:15 UTC
ok, they have their setup.py command taking a conditionExtensions arg for all the former split pkgs. So this means it replicates our use flag capability.

I haven't figured out yet how the conditionExtensions arg is suppose to be formatted yet. It is not clear looking at the code so far.

Any news? :)

The latest version as of 4. aug is 16.3.0[1]

Would be awesome to have in portage because of python3 support and such!

I have some initial ebuilds in my buildbot-dev overlay. They are not ready for the tree yet, but I have 16.2.0 running with the new buildbot rc.

The overlay is not listed in layman, so you'll have to just git clone it yourself.

I haven't checked any of the deps nor ran any test suites for them yet.

I just pushed the main buildbot changes and new buildbot deps to the tree yesterday. So, if you want to do some additional testing/debugging, then please clone and try it out. Report any problems hopefully with the fix ;) too.

Awesome! Just sent you a pull request adding python3_5 support :)

Had to add these lines to package.provided to resolve my dependencies (and uninstall the ones I had installed):
> dev-python/twisted-core-16.3.0
> dev-python/twisted-names-16.3.0
> dev-python/twisted-web-16.3.0

Installed it with +serial and python2_7 and python3_5 now, it seems to work!

Not all twisted libs are ported and installed in python 3*.

I have 16.2.0 and 16.3.2 in the main gentoo tree now, 16.4.1 is in progress ( still have 2 unicode errors in py2.7 to fix)

Please file bugs for the pkgs that have not added the new twisted dep option as the alternative to the twisted-* split pkgs. I sent an email to the gentoo-dev mail list announcing the new twisted pkg which replaces the twisted-{core,...} pkgs.

Closing as the 15.* releases are no longer current and 16.4 is almost done.
