qmail supports verp, but mailman can't use it without the patch at the given uri. Boils down to simply adding the file, then I'll be happy. Maybe alter the README.QMAIL.gz file to also reflect this. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:

I don't have qmail setup to test. Until someone in net-mail herd step up and try this patch, this bug stays open.
Ok, it broke again with the latest update. There was some hack I had to pull and for the life of me I can't remember it now.
K, I finally figured it out again, there is a bin/qmail-to-mailman.py file that doesn't take note of VERP and assumes that all bounce messages will end with -bounces$ (regex), but instead it also needs to consider -bounces[-+].*$. I've created a patch which can be found on http://www.kroon.co.za/howto.php?howto=qmail_mailman
This is a mailman problem, not one of qmail.
I never said it was a qmail problem. I said it's a problem with mailman not being able to use the VERP as supplied by qmail.
Ask upstream to fix this, not a Gentoo issue.
Still an issue with net-mail/mailman-2.1.13. somebody please commit the one-line patch. No, upstream does not accept almost any patches and I never understood why. Please, this one is a must. Show me a site which does not use it. ;-)
