Users reported this issue here: https://github.com/mrueg/repoman-travis/issues/7 Please revert the removal and write a proper repoman check to deprecate those things out. The way it's done right now annoys users and might turn potential contributors away from gentoo.
I vote that people fix their metadata.
In general, I agree with Rick. But I wouldn't oppose such a patch unless Brian does.
