http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=1&chap=6 In code listing 3 on this page it lists the output of the env-update command as Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache... but when I ran it, having followed the default instructions to this point, I got this (apparently equivalent) output instead: * Caching service dependencies... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Followed the default instructions in the handbook at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=1&chap=6 through code listing 3. 2. The actual commands were "chroot /mnt/gentoo /bin/bash" and "env-update" Actual Results: The program output "* Caching service dependencies...". Expected Results: Uncertain but the handbook has "Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache... " as the output. I'm in the middle of an installation so I can't provide emerge info at the moment, but I am installing 2004.1 with a 2.4.25-gentoo kernel on a Celeron 500 from a stage 2 x86 tarball, booted from a minimal LiveCD.
Fixed. Thanks for reporting.
