This is not a show stopper. You need to provide emerge --info along with an strace -f thunderbird so we can see what child is causing your failure.

I found a hint on a stuck running thunderbird process (here http://askubuntu.com/q/331504). When killing that semi-zombie, new instances of thunderbird start up well again.

Close as invalid?

Did your system crash causing the zombie or what? If it was caused from a crash I am in favor of closing invalid, if it was something else We need to figure out what caused it and see how we can resolve it.

My system did not crash, only thunderbird. And then it wouldn't start any more.

patch from fedora

I had the same error in my xsession-errors file, but regardless thunderbird always worked, so it is more of a logspam to me. Just recently, I stumbled over a patch for firefox from fedora, and it seems to fix the issue. Which means it silences the pointless errors thunderbird throws out. Patch is attached and has file paths adjusted for your convinience.

If you feel I have closed your bug and it is still a current issue, please reopen and update it completely. We will not work bugs that have no ebuild in tree any longer or can not be reproduced with a current system.
