detect_container was a private openrc function which turned out to have issues, so it is going away. Also, the rc_sys() function in librc is broken, so it is being rewritten as an internal openrc function, not part of librc. This means that, for now, you can still use rc_sys(), but we need to talk about why you are using it, because it is meant to be used by openrc to detect the type of system it is on so it will not automatically start services that have -systype in their keywords. Another reason I started moving it to internal was it isn't really a documented part of the public api (it isn't in the man pages). [1] https://archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-dev/message/20ad6c185785c68aab08b2e927412dc0
Let me clarify this a bit. If you need the rc_sys() function and there is no other way to do what you are doing with it, let me know that, and I'll look at fixing it rather than removing it. In the mean time, you should still be using rc_sys and not trying to call detect_container and detect_vm.
Well, the tinderbox is just a test robot [1] to uncover inconsistencies of and in between packages - so no need here to change anything. [1] http://www.zwiebeltoralf.de/tinderbox/index.html
Ok, it looks like I may have to fix rc_sys for now; the build error may be on my side.
Please test again with openrc-0.20.3. Thanks, William
much better
I am closing this since it was an issue with OpenRC not openrc-settingsd.
