The upstream git repo URL has changed since March 2015.
The old repo URL still works but has no new commits since then.
Active development seem to happen against git://sourceware.org/git/newlib-cygwin.git instead. The recently released newlib 2.3.0 version is tagged in the cygwin repo.

The live ebuild checks out the latest source
