Description Sophie Hamilton 2016-01-17 19:17:09 UTC
At the top of the metadata/layout.conf file in the main gentoo repository, the comments read:

> # This went live Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at 10:00 UTC
> # For more details, please see: http://archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-dev-announce/msg_00000.xml
> # and/or GLEP 59.

The gentoo-dev-announce link is outdated and is now a 404. The updated link seems to be https://archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-dev-announce/message/a15cbea85dd089c99302f949b4072c20 .

This is fairly obviously not urgent at all, but I didn't see it on the bug tracker so I thought I'd make sure it existed here. :)

Fix outdated URL in comment

Patch attached, created from 'git format-patch' on a shallow clone of <https://anongit.gentoo.org/git/repo/gentoo.git>. I believe I have formatted my commit message correctly, but if not, my apologies! (I'm not normally a Gentoo dev but I did read https://gitweb.gentoo.org/proj/portage.git/tree/DEVELOPING - since it seemed the most relevant guide - and believe I've formatted it properly.)

Hmm, This is something that should normally be put up in the gentoo-dev list for review.

It was incorrectly assigned to the portage team which is for portage development, not the Gentoo ebuild tree. Let's see if I can reassign this correctly.
Comment 3 Sophie Hamilton 2016-01-17 20:57:52 UTC
Sorry about that! The bad assignment was my fault - I was trying to find the most appropriate place to put it as I knew it was a meta bug with Gentoo itself, rather than a package in Gentoo. I should have just left it to the bug wranglers. Lesson learned for next time!

As for the gentoo-dev mailing list, thanks for the tip. I'll wait until I hear back from someone on this bug before posting this there, but I'll definitely check it out.
Comment 4 Sophie Hamilton 2016-01-17 21:02:08 UTC
(Since this has been moved, I'm adjusting the summary to make this clear that it refers to the gentoo ebuild repository and not the "gentoo" file manager.)
