Description Patrizio Bassi 2004-07-15 12:57:31 UTC
php 4.3.8 fails with gcc 3.4.1

after a nice configure, at the first compilation i get:
...........
make: *** [/var/tmp/portage/php-4.3.8/work/php-4.3.8/ext/java/php_java.jar] Killed

and ebuilds fails.
i've tried 3 times to be sure it wasn't a random gcc crash.

mod_php is compiling instead...

can you include the output of "emerge info"?
Comment 2 Travis Tilley (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-15 17:53:54 UTC
php 4.3.8 compiles and installs here on amd64 btw, using gcc 3.4.1. are you using hardened?
Comment 3 Patrizio Bassi 2004-07-16 00:49:54 UTC
update:
mod_php fails too. not the first compilation item...but later...

consider that i'm using 3.4.1-r1 and i've compile lots and lots of packages,
i found some parse errors due to not perfect code, but never a "killed" problem.
i'm using standard one, not hardned.
and i'm on a pentium2 not amd64 so :(
however this is my emerge info:

Comment 4 Patrizio Bassi 2004-07-16 11:09:46 UTC
i just did some tests, changing gcc, java and so on (cause it seems to fail in java part)

now it compioled good with gcc 3.4.1 and kernel 2.4.24.

i had 2.68.rc1 kernel. it doesn't make wine work too.

so i guess it's a kernel problem somewhere.

i think you could close this bug, maybe it's safe to delete 2.6.8rc1 ebuild.
