Running new development-sources 2.6.8-rc1. This kernel runs fine, but I cannot emerge -e world. Whenever I get to perl-5.8.4 it panics. I don't get any useful info. It just basically says kernel panic while in the interrupt handler. I've emerge other packages with success and emerge -e world works fine up until it gets through perl. Would love to provide more info if someone can tell me how to debug kernel panics. Hm, if you run d-s, you are pretty much on your own, sorry. I suggest capturing the panic and creating a new bug at bugzilla.kernel.org, as there is nothing that we add to this kernel tree.
Okay. Do know how I might be able to capture enough info that might be useful to others? The only Item I get on the console is: Aiee, killing interrupt handler In interrupt handler -not syncing.
Try using a serial console connection, or netconsole. Instructions on how to use them are in the Documentation directory in the kernel source tree.
Thanks, Greg. The netconsole sounds cool. Will give it a try when I get home tonite.
