Eeew. Don't inject xorg-x11 as xfree. Take xfree out of your world file, remerge xfree and the nvidia stuff and re-run opengl-update nvidia. If that doesn't help, post the output of emerge --info please.

Any more input from the x11 group? This seems like a opengl-update thing to me.

It works ok for me now, xorg-x11 6.8.0-r3, opengl-update 1.8.2 Theres a black stripe down the right side of the screen, but I think thats peculiar to my laptop. I think you can probably close this bug.
