Description Grant Hill 2004-07-14 04:08:40 UTC
When trying to run tuxracer 0.61-r3, it doesn't start - the following is the output to the terminal:

Tux Racer 0.61 -- a Sunspire Studios Production (http://www.sunspirestudios.com)(c) 1999-2000 Jasmin F. Patry <jfpatry@sunspirestudios.com>

*** tuxracer error: Couldn't initialize video: X11 driver not configured with OpenGL (Success)

I'm using the xorg x-server 6.7.0-r1 (injected as xfree) and nvidia drivers 1.0.6106 glxgears works fine and glxinfo reports direct rendering is working.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.type tuxracer in shell
2.
3.
Comment 1 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-20 16:51:09 UTC
Eeew. Don't inject xorg-x11 as xfree.

Take xfree out of your world file, remerge xfree and the nvidia stuff and re-run opengl-update nvidia. If that doesn't help, post the output of emerge --info please.
Comment 2 Martin Wegner 2004-08-25 09:45:43 UTC
Fails here with the same error using xorg-x11-6.7.0-r2 and ati-drivers-3.11.1 .

Comment 3 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-25 13:11:18 UTC
Why don't you attach the output of `LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose glxinfo`
Comment 4 Martin Wegner 2004-08-25 23:21:05 UTC
Because nobody told me to do so until now ...

Here it comes:

Any more input from the x11 group? This seems like a opengl-update thing to me.
Comment 6 Andrew Bevitt 2004-09-02 02:54:08 UTC
Are you loading the GL / GLX system from your xorg.conf?
Comment 7 Martin Wegner 2004-09-06 13:20:19 UTC

My xorg.conf

Yes, I have. Here is the config.
Comment 8 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-07 03:52:36 UTC
still a problem with latest versions?
Comment 9 Grant Hill 2004-12-07 04:48:17 UTC
It works ok for me now, xorg-x11 6.8.0-r3, opengl-update 1.8.2

Theres a black stripe down the right side of the screen, but I think thats peculiar to my laptop.

I think you can probably close this bug.
Comment 10 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-07 11:00:30 UTC
great. Thanks for checking.
