The herds have been deprecated by the Council and are being replaced by projects. For this reason, please decide on the fate of the herd stated in the summary and update [1] or state the request here. The common choices are: 1. Map the herd to an existing project (in this case all packages in the herd will be maintained by the project) -- let us know which project to use. 2. Create a new project for the herd -- create the wiki page, let us know the new mail alias name to be created, create the wiki page and let us know about it. 3. Decide to disband the herd -- just let us know (but keep it for now in herds.xml!), we'll replace it with individual maintainers when herds are removed. I think moving to a project would be good. @gstreamer: what do you think ?

I've created the project page, and the e-mail address shall remain the same as we've always had as our simple e-mail alias that maps to project members and other interested parties (the system where it wasn't synced with project members, just /var/mail alias stuff on woodpecker). That's our bugzilla account for long time already too. https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:GStreamer What now?
Oh, and not sure if we should seek to be under a parent project. Options could be Sound, Video, Desktop, GNOME and any Freedesktop.org kind of project. Sound or Video would be weird, as it does both (and the core system isn't even media limited, but in practice mostly used for that only - but most of the other packages than media-libs/gstreamer are sound, video, subtitles or visualization related). Maybe if Sound and Video would reorganize under some kind of Multimedia parent project, then we could be their siblings under Multimedia parentage. GStreamer can easily be used outside desktop too, and in fact is used in some stuff like Tizen phones, Jolla or whatnot, and possibly as reencoding or other kind of tooling on servers. Same about GNOME, and wouldn't bind it too much to GNOME, just GObject is used and otherwise meant universal across desktops. So for now I left Gentoo project as the parent.
Just update the wiki page and close FIXED. No need to do anything else, we'll update metadata.xml in the big switch™.
Ok then, FIXED.
