Summary: Donate to the Software Freedom Conservancy, as a matching sponsor Requestor: robbat2 Deadline: 2015/12/20 Priority: High Amount requested: $1200USD Funding disbursement: direct to SFC Vendor: Software Freedom Conservancy (SFC) Justification & Supporting information: We should be good open source citizens. We are using the SFC's "NPOAcct" accounting [1] project (and the Ledger app it builds on top of) and it has aided our book-keeping tremendously; we have gone from no up-to-date public financial details, to ready to release the first amended financial reports. The SFC did previously run a fundraiser directly for NPOAcct, but it did not reach it's goals, and instead development is only happening incrementally as they need the features themselves (as they also use the tool). The SFC is drastically short of funds to continue existing, and is running a fund-raising drive to that end. - I propose that we publicly donate $1200USD in matching funds to the SFC, as part of their fund raising drive. - I propose that we also promote their fund-raising drive publicly, as other matching sponsors have been private.
Notes: I proposed this via email after the last meeting that did not happen, as part of my ongoing financial work. It was already supported by swift & neddyseagoon on email (strictly, a majority with myself, but seeking one more vote for a less partial majority).
I approve the donation.

Not sure if this was ever paid out. Sponsoring other projects is something I had mentioned years ago when I was a trustee. #10 Donate/contribute to other projects and charities https://archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-nfp/message/e3825ceed1a9eabb4d1438e919bdc63a I also am more supportive of the SFC than the SPI per their model of funding aspects with paid staff. SFC model is different than SPI. Though mention of it being "The SFC is drastically short of funds to continue existing" That could be a concern for either. None the less not bad to give back if some benefit. If need Quickbooks license would likely easily cost that or more for the needs over the years.
Robin, I don't see this in ledger, did it happen?
This was not previously paid out to the SFC, who instead had a very successful FY2015 & FY2016. I would retain this for future use, such as a matching funds campaign with SFC (was discussed at the time with SFC). Suggest RESO LATER
